Verizon said [and still says]that DSL works up here and it does not. We got the dsl kit and everything and had it hooked up but it was not working so we call tech support and go back through it all over again and its not working spent hours on the phone with someone who can barely speak english, and no sucsess. Got cable and had it hooked up in a few minutes. I love it.

Re: internet providers in this area

Yeah, DSL is a distance limited technology. If you don't live close enough, it won't work. But VZ kills me with the way they'll tell almost anybody they can get it. I could probably call right now and the rep would say "Yeah, you can get it!!" But I already know I can't. I think they get a bit of a bonus in some way for selling more. But for heaven's sake don't lie about it. It'd be like our office giving bonuses because we took a high amount of directory calls. If you get wrong numbers now, can you imagine what it'd be like then? It don't work that way.

And then there's Comcast. It's high speed broadband and ya gotta love that. But what I hate is the damn price. It's practically gouging people in rural areas because they know we have no chance for DSL and satellite internet access is way too much due to equipment charges. Because I don't have cable tv they charge me and extra $15. So I'm paying $57.95/month for internet. I can live with that due to the knowledge of how much I'd be paying if I got cable, too. But it still shouldn't be that high when DSL can be so cheap.

I agree, the price for cable really sucks compared to other ISP's. Maybe one day it will go down. I doubt it but one can only hope.
